Very Near

These last four paintings done in California were all painted on Arches Huile, a paper made especially for oil painting.  I loved trying this paper, most of all because the paintings were so portable.  This is painted in Carmel at the end of one of the streets.

  1. What a lovely landscape painting! I love the colors and the way you put down the strokes. I will need to check out that paper that you used.

  5. Lovely Suzanne. I find it's difficult to keep the trees dark enough - you gave them just enough highlight, but not too much. A great landscape!
ps - Have you seen Taryn Day's artbyte on DPW about painting on a budget? Good info in there about painting on paper.

  6. Did you find the paper to be rather absorbent? When I used paper for oil (a different maker), I found the absorbent nature rather off-putting.
