AspenGrove

I had fun with this very large canvas, 24 x 36. We were in Lake City, Colorado, last fall for the phenomenal changing of the leaves. Each day the colors were expanding across the mountains, producing this most amazing effect. Working on this these past few days has been great. Listened to a Tolstoy recording. We had ferocious winds, of the deep West Texas variety. I was happy to be indoors dreaming of Colorado.

"The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible,
but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for staying ashore."

  2. Suzanne, these have an almost ethereal textural quality that is hard to explain. Makes me want to go there. This is a winner.

  6. Oh this must be fabulous in real life at that size - glorious color and such a wonderful composition. I just love it! And I love the Van Gogh quote as well - both your painting and his words are very inspring!

  9. I don't know how I missed this lovely painting before. You really captured the glow. As I look I can almost feel them shimmering and trembling. I've read that Aspens are like bamboo---all the trees collectively are one organism.
